People are being sued for what they post sites such as Twitter

November 17, 2009

As technology evolves at breakneck speed, thorny legal issues are emerging, experts say. People are being sued for what they post on social-networking sites such as Twitter. Some of the legal issues involve privacy, defamation and content ownership. The law is "at least five years behind technology as it is developing," legal expert says. Here is an interesting piece from CNN that takes you though the pit falls if you are an internet blowhard, in some circles known as a troll (Did that one hit home for YOU – you know exactly who you are).

How the internet started – Without Al Gore

October 29, 2009

40 years ago today was the genesis to what we know as the internet today. The following is an excerpt from the article HERE. "To tell the story of how it happened, you have to start with the context in which it happened. A communication revolution was taking place — but it was happening over the telephone. Telephones were for communicating, while computers were built to process information — to do things like payroll and number-crunching. The IBM 1401, a computer system about the size of a two-car garage, could process about as much information as your cell phone — your ratty old cell phone from the 1980s, that is."

Cop pulls a gun on a haunted house character

October 27, 2009

A Baltimore city police officer was charged with assault after he pulled a gun on a haunted house character over the weekend. Basically, he put his gun to my chest and as I was going back in, he said he was a cop".

October 18, 2009

Help the DNA Lounge, Slim’s, and all the other all ages venues in San Francisco.

Please help support night-time entertainment in SF by coming to a hearing on Monday, Oct 26 at 1PM in room 263 at City Hall!

A vocal group of ultra-conservative neighbors have banded with the anti-alcohol and anti-entertainment elements in the police department and the state alcohol control department to shut down night-time entertainment in San Francisco. This is a real threat. These people have come to hearings at City Hall and blamed night-time entertainment for violent crime, murder, prostitution, public urination and defecation and any host of problems that the city has been facing for decades. Never before have they been this strong and powerful, if you love going out at night, you need to show up and tell City Hall that we are not to be blamed for society’s problems. We need you to show up at Monday’s hearing and/or send an email of support now. Again, the hearing is next Monday, Oct 26 at 1PM in room 263 at City Hall. Read more

Man charged with criminal damage to hamburgers

October 16, 2009

A man has been charged with criminal damage to two hamburgers after becoming involved in an alleged doorstep dispute with a fast food firm. The man was arrested and taken from his home in handcuffs at the weekend after his family’s order with their local pizza parlor in Loughor, near Swansea, arrived minus two burgers. *** This could have been a scene out of the movie "Falling Down", never mess with a man’s food as the old saying goes.
